Priscom Computers Warranty Policy

Does Priscom Computers give a warranty? Yes — terms vary by what you bought. New laptops & desktops carry up to 12 months, depending on the manufacturer, model and supplier warranty applicable to that product. Ex-UK refurbished laptops carry a 3-month Priscom replacement warranty. Repairs carry a 30-day workmanship guarantee. Original (genuine) accessories — chargers, batteries — carry 6 months; replacement/aftermarket accessory parts carry 3 months. Keep your Priscom receipt or warranty sticker — it is your proof of purchase date.

What is covered

Item Warranty period Covers Does not cover
New laptops & desktops Up to 12 months, depending on the manufacturer, model and supplier warranty applicable to the specific product. The exact period is stated on the invoice/receipt or product listing. Manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising under normal use. Accidental/physical damage, liquid damage, power-related damage, misuse, unauthorized repairs/modifications, malware/software issues, and consumable wear unless expressly covered.
Ex-UK / refurbished laptops 3 months Hardware faults arising under normal use during the warranty period. Grade A stock only, tested and verified before sale; battery tested to a minimum 70% health floor before sale (a pre-sale check, separate from warranty coverage — see the battery row below). Accidental/physical damage, liquid damage, power damage, misuse, unauthorized repair/modification, software problems, and normal wear.
Repairs (screen, battery, board, upgrade) 30-day workmanship guarantee The specific repair performed. Replacement parts are covered per the warranty applicable to that part. Unrelated faults, subsequent physical/liquid/power damage, misuse, or faults caused by other components.
Accessories (chargers, batteries, storage, peripherals) 6 months on original/genuine parts; 3 months on replacement/aftermarket parts Manufacturing or functional defects under normal use. For a battery sold inside an Ex-UK/refurbished laptop, runtime/capacity naturally varies with age and previous use — no specific health percentage or runtime is guaranteed unless stated for that unit. Physical/accidental damage, liquid/moisture damage, burnt or broken connectors/ports, cables damaged by pulling/bending, power surges or incorrect voltage, misuse, improper installation, unauthorized repair/modification, cosmetic wear, normal wear and tear, incompatibility with unsupported equipment, damage caused by another faulty device, and normal battery capacity degradation.
CCTV kits & installation Equipment follows the manufacturer/supplier warranty for each device (no universal period). Priscom's own installation work carries a 30-day workmanship guarantee. Installation-related faults (workmanship); device faults per the manufacturer's own terms (equipment). Damage from power surges, lightning, vandalism, tampering, network issues, misuse, or third-party alterations, unless specifically covered.
Software, consumables (toner/ink), clearance/"sold as seen" items No blanket warranty — subject to the terms communicated at the time of sale. Statutory consumer rights are not excluded. — —

What voids the warranty

Across every category, warranty does not cover: accidental or physical damage, liquid damage, power-related damage (e.g. surges), misuse, unauthorized repairs or modifications, malware/software issues, or normal wear and consumable degradation — unless expressly stated as covered for that item. A missing, damaged or tampered warranty sticker/seal does not automatically void a claim — but Priscom may decline coverage where inspection shows the product was opened, altered, repaired or tampered with by an unauthorized party and that intervention caused or contributed to the fault. Proof of purchase may still be required.

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Report the claim through the branch where the item was purchased, or through Priscom's official customer-support channel, with your proof of purchase/invoice and, where applicable, your warranty details. Priscom may direct you to the appropriate branch or service point for inspection or resolution.
  2. Priscom inspects/diagnoses the product to determine whether the reported fault falls within warranty.
  3. If the fault is a valid warranty claim, no diagnostic or repair labour charge applies for the covered fault. If inspection finds the problem falls outside warranty, you're told of any diagnostic/repair charges before chargeable work proceeds.
  4. Valid warranty claims are resolved by repair or replacement as appropriate and subject to availability. Where replacement is necessary, Priscom will provide an appropriate equivalent replacement. Many straightforward repairs and upgrades can be completed in approximately 30 minutes to an hour when the required part is in stock; complex diagnostics, motherboard work, liquid-damage recovery, data recovery, specialist repairs and jobs requiring ordered parts may take longer. The expected turnaround is confirmed after assessment.
  5. For customers outside Nairobi: send-in warranty claims are accepted. Risk transfers to Priscom once the item physically reaches our shop — we're not liable for damage or loss in transit to us, but are once it's received. Return-shipping costs are initially the customer's, unless otherwise agreed — if the claim is confirmed as covered, Priscom may cover or reimburse reasonable return-delivery costs where agreed in advance. Costs on a non-warranty claim remain the customer's.

Warranty vs. manufacturer warranty

Coverage varies by product — not every sealed new unit automatically carries a direct manufacturer warranty in addition to Priscom's own terms. Where a manufacturer warranty applies to a specific product, this is disclosed at the point of sale (on the invoice or product listing), along with whether a claim is handled through Priscom or directly with the manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How long is the warranty on an Ex-UK laptop from Priscom? A: 3 months from the purchase date on your receipt or warranty sticker, covering hardware faults arising under normal use. Every unit is Grade A stock, tested and verified — with the battery tested to at least 70% health — before sale.

Q: Is the battery covered? A: Every refurbished laptop's battery is tested to a minimum 70% health floor before it's sold — that's a pre-sale check, not a warranty term. Battery runtime/capacity naturally varies with age and prior use, so no specific health percentage or runtime is guaranteed under warranty unless explicitly stated for that unit; the warranty addresses functional failure, not normal capacity degradation. A battery bought separately (not inside a laptop) carries its own 6-month warranty against functional defects.

Q: Do repairs come with a guarantee? A: Yes — a 30-day workmanship guarantee on the specific repair performed. Replacement parts are covered per the warranty applicable to that part. It does not cover a different, unrelated fault that appears later.

Q: What proof do I need to claim? A: Your Priscom receipt or the warranty sticker on the device, which shows the purchase date.

Q: Can I claim if I bought online and had it delivered? A: Yes. Contact Priscom on 0748 925 325 or info@priscom.co.ke with your order/invoice details and a description of the fault. We will advise whether the product should be brought to one of our branches or sent in for inspection. Where a send-in claim is required, delivery arrangements and applicable costs will be communicated before dispatch.
